Not-for-profit Sector

Our service framework for the not-for-profit sector is one which focuses on understanding the organisation’s purpose, direction and goals and then links these goals back to an efficient and effective financial reporting environment.

The not-for-profit sector can have quite a complex reporting environment in terms of the number of different users of the organisation’s financial statements. We focus on ensuring that all the reporting requirements for the end users of your financial statements are met in a timely, efficient and cost effective manner, whether this be for the Board, internal management or Government.

Our service framework allows us to work with the organisation’s own employees to provide an accounting and overview role, similar to that offered by an in-house Financial Controller but often in a more cost effective manner.

We focus on ensuring that the accounting reporting function provides all the relevant financial reports in order to measure the financial outcomes of the organisation.  This is often more than preparation of a Profit & Loss Statement and Balance Sheet, and may include other reports such as cashflow reporting and projections, budget variance analysis, project reporting and Key Performance indicators.

We ensure that taxation issues that are relevant to the not-for-profit sector such as GST and FBT are treated correctly and all concessions that the organisation may be allowed under the relevant taxation legislation are obtained.

In addition, we will work with the organisation to recommend and implement strategies to ensure that the assets of the organisation are being utilised to their full capacity in working to achieve the organisation’s objectives.
